Erik Ballhausen has worked in the field of European education policy and projects for more than 20 years. Currently he is a desk officer at the Education, Audiovisual & Culture Executive Agency. Within the Erasmus+ Programme he has a wide-ranging portfolio of projects in the field of ICT in education, training and youth. Since the launch of the Erasmus+ Programme he has developed a keen interest in projects which try to provide evidence for stakeholders and policy makers in the field of ICT in education.
Erik is an ardent IT advocate within the Commission. As such, he is a certified online community manager as well as a trained coach in participatory collaboration methodologies (The Art of Participatory Leadership. Furthermore, he has led (in the function of business design, test and roll-out manager) a wide range of IT projects within the European Commission. He co-developed approaches to facilitate the use of IT and is an enthusiastic trainer and coach in this field. More recently Erik has been involved in the setting-up of collaborative platforms and social media for work with the clear purpose to improve the knowledge sharing and network capabilities of and within the Commission. Erik has also taken a keen interest in volunteering, which he does both at work as well as in his private life.
